The Hasegawa FMK Series is a revolutionary sushi roll mat (makisu) that is made from specially developed plastic and monofilaments. It is as easy to roll as a conventional makisu, but without the need for cling film. The benefits of the Hasegawa makisu include:

  • It is hygienic, as the monofilament strings do not collect food particles, and the advanced plastic does not easily get dirty. It also does not generate splinters or black mould.
  • It is easy to use, as grains of rice are less likely to stick to its embossed surfaces, which makes it suitable for Western style sushi like California Rolls.
  • It is also easy to wash and dry, and dishwasher safe, so can be used right after washing.

The Hasegawa makisu is available in three colours - beige, blue and green - in the following sizes:

  • S - 250 x 165mm (ideal for maki rolls)
  • M - 250 x 240mm (ideal for futomaki rolls)

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Wash the sushi roll mat by hand using warm water, a soft sponge and a soft dishwashing soap, or put it in the dishwasher and wash as usual. Both methods are safe. Do not use a hard brush to clean it.
  • The binding is made of "monofilament" strings, which is similar to that of the fishing line.  The material is non water-absorbent and dries immediately after wash, making it very hygienic. Please do not cut the roll once finished on the mat - remove it first.
  • Do not apply excessive force, or hit the mat on hard surfaces to remove moisture.

----------------------------------

Hasegawa Corporation was founded in Chiba prefecture in 1955 as a ski materials manufacturer. Since skis have a wooden core sandwiched between plastic sheets which should never separate, to prevent injury, the company focused its research and development on 'adhesive lamination technology'. Through years of research, in-house knowledge and continuous improvement, Hasegawa Corporation has ensured it makes cutting boards and sushi related products that cannot be easily imitated.

The company philosophy is based on three pillars:

  • Developing and building on new technologies;
  • Ensuring the safety and security of all its products for everyday use;
  • Contributing to the food service industry through R&D.
